It can be challenging to stay positive and motivated when life throws one of its many twists and turns at you. We feel lost and everything looks like shattering down.
Well, you cannot always control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it.
It is essential to remain self-motivated and nurture yourself during this period.
Here I listed some things that you can do:
– Focus on the good things
Easier said than done, right? Especially during hard times. But, we need to focus on the good things in life for us to move forward. It doesn’t really matter how small or seemingly insignificant they seem. The main thing is that you do it.
I have talked about it earlier and will talk about it more. Journaling is the best way to clear your thoughts and relieve stress. Also, it helps you to respond to different situations in a more mindful and functional way.

– Play happy music
Music plays a big role in our life. Most of us listen to music when we go somewhere, relax, do sports etc. The music we listen to affects how we feel – the more depressing songs you listen to, the more miserable you are. Yes, it is scientifically proven.
So, listen to happy songs that will boost your mood. I am sure you will find some on YouTube, Spotify, etc.
– The right people
Avoid negative people! Their negative attitudes will only bring you down.
Surround yourself with people who make you happy, people who give you good energy. If you do so, you will unintentionally become full of energy and a happier person. Your family and friends can be your support during hard times.
– Positive affirmations
Tell yourself at least one positive affirmation in the mirror every day. It is so important to keep your self-esteem up. When it is low, you start to compare yourself to others and lose the positive mindset. That is not what you want, is it?
- I look GOOD today
- I love my eyes, my nose, my ears, etc.
- I love my body
- My smile is great
- I like how I helped someone or smiled at someone today.
Remember, YOU are a unique person!

– Practice gratitude
Practicing gratitude is another way to stay positive during difficult times.
Think of people, moments, or things that bring you some kind of comfort or happiness. Try to express your gratitude at least once a day. For example, I am thankful for the spring, that the sun is shining, and the weather is getting warmer.
You can write them in your journal if you like.
– Write down your goals
Write down the goals you want to achieve in 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years. You may write some goals for a shorter period as well (a day, a week, a month). Have something to look forward to. It is a great way to keep yourself motivated.
- Guess what! I found a cool website that I wanted to share with you (totally reliable). It is aimed at people who want to improve their lives in many ways, whether their perspective on things going on right now or their productivity.
I love that this website has many courses on topics that most other websites don’t. Also, I love how each course costs only 20 bucks! Isn’t that cheap? For other websites’ courses may cost up to 100 bucks.
I bet you’ll love it! Click HERE to learn more about this website.
– Be kind
By being kinder to others, you are more likely to be kinder to yourself.
Give compliments, genuine compliments to other people. It may be even a stranger! Making other people happy will also make you happy and more positive.
- Don’t forget to SMILE. It will put you and the people around you in a more positive mood.
